Hello Gang,

This morning I took another shakedown cruise to the title bureau. I bought my truck in NJ and never got an Ohio title. They had to "see" the vehicle to verify the VIN #. . Wow, did it turn heads, even in its current unfinished state. On the way a good omen, I passed a civy WDX going the other way. I had not seen that truck for a year, how uncanny. :)
You should have seen the look on the 20 something girls face who came out to look at it  I showed her the vin on the glovebox then where to look on the frame. She opted for the glovebox.
It was pretty painless other than a goof up on their part and I had to get back in line to get it reworked. I now have a OH title :D
On the way home I went down a side street where there had been an M43 in the yard next to a barn. As I approached the house I saw the rig was moved in the drive. Cool I thought , a brother. I slowed down and saw somebody in the garage. They peeked out but did not wave me into the drive. There were alot of those long winded no tresspasing signs all over. They obviously did not want to come out to play :? All in all about 15 miles of pavement driving.
I am going out now to look at my brakes and get things in order for the car show Sunday. Thanks for all the brake suggestions guys in my previous post. We'll see what I find.

PS< Sucessfully downshifted several times today 8)

This is a goofy question, are you just listening to the engine/feeling the vibe in/on the stick or both?

Bruce,
Right now a little of both. Kind of a human "virometer" :)

Yesterday I got my Historic Plates. The mighty M is now a official historic vehicle in the State of Ohio :D It was only a one-time $29.95 (the old price of an Earl Scheib paint job for those who remember that) fee for the plates. Not bad. :)

Way to go David! Yes, I'm old enough to remember Earl's "I'll paint ANY car for....." spiel!

Oh, yes! I well remember Earl Scheib paint jobs, AAMCO transmission service, and Cal Worthington "and his dog Spot." Guess I'm older than I thought I was! :(

I remember Earl saying"I'll paint any car...$99.99". What he didn't say is that it did not include prep.

Heya, y'all!

I don't consider myself too old, only 43, but I remember Earl Scheib sellings his paint jobs for "$39.95, no ups and no extras". Having seen many of these Earl Scheib paint jobs I can attest to the fact that the extras he talked about were masking and runs avoidance!

My granduncle decided to save himself some money and repainted his old Chevy pick-up with a roller and some bright green fence paint. What he saved on the paint job he spent on Pabst Blue Ribbon (the familys "drink" of prestige) and it still looked better than the neighbors Earl Scheib painted station wagon!

I also fondly recall Cal Worthington, and his dog "Spot" hawking early and mid 70's Plymouth Valiants for $999!

And lastly, who could forget Frank Carvel, of Carvels Ice Cream, slurring "And here's Cookie Puss. Doesn't she look tasty"?
