J & U bolts anchor either pilar from the inside, on the lower end of the rear pilar.

Which one is the bottom one, I think it's the "U".....but I've been wrong before?
I did a dry fit a while back, it worked for me then.

Welded tab, 1.5" tall, 1/2" turned down. Either one looks easy to fab, but if Jon Bizal has 'em....... 8)

You're right. The "U" goes on the bottom, and the "J" goes on the top. The reason for this is that there's not enough room to get a wrench on a second nut at the top due to the "fold-over" of the sheet metal.

Look for the two round holes in the topp of the cab corners, then feel underneath them and you'll find two slots below each one. When installing the bolts, you loosen the nuts as far as they'll go, slip the "U" of the lower bolt through the slot and the "J" of the top one through the upper slot with the nut towards the center of the cab. Then, slide the tubes of the top frame down through the holes and the bolts (may take some jiggliing and require extra hands). Once everything is in place, you can tighten up the nuts. The concept is simple...actually doing it can be frustrating and you'll probably scuff up your knuckles a bit.

ok now i see what you are talking about, they are slots that face rearward, we will need to remove the soft top frame to instal the u and j bolts

what are the straps that goto the footman loops on the dash and the bolt on brackets on the windshield frame? are they supposed to be permenantly attached to the soft top? or are they just like a long 1" wide strap?

Each strap has two sewn in loops in the top itself.
