Some observations on Dana Front Axles

Well today I started to reaxle my truck. So I thought I would share a few things I learned today.
The axle I'm putting on is from a 79 Dodge W200 which is a Dana 44 HD. Basically a Dana 44 housing with Dana 60 tubes and axle shafts.
The stock axle from backing plate to backing plate is shorter than the Dana which is 3 inches longer from backing plate to backing plate.
But! The overall axle length from hub to hub is shorter on the Dana than the stock axle where the stock axle from hub to hub is 70 inches and the Dana from hub to hub is 65 inches. I think it's because the stock has such big brake drums.
I'm still working out the mounting and will report on that once I get it done.
