Tire Size Conversion

I have been thinking about getting some more modern tires after my STA Lugs get worn. What would be a modern tire size that would be close to a 11.00x16? Maybe something between a 9.00 and a 11.00 would work too. From what I think I remember there was an issue with the width of the stock rim handling a bigger tire. I thought I had seen something about it here before but I looked around some but didn't see it. Sorry for the rehash. I work at Toyo Tires and have been seeing a mud tire called Open Country MT and one called a Nitto Mud Grappler and it may not be worth a howdy in mud but it "looks" like a great mud tire. I think the size selection may not be as good for the later though.

Thanks for any info,
Mark

Something in a 285-295 range would be good. Like a 295/95R16 would be about a 38 inch tire. Which is close to the 1100 x16 (give or take)

Thanks for the reply, they don't seem to list the size you mention. Only thing remotely close is a 285/70R16, that is supposed to be almost 38 inches tall but I wonder if it would be too wide? (shows 15.6 inches wide) also they say is should be mounted on a 10 inch rim. They list a 38x14.5016LT that has basically the same specs as 285/70. I guess I should have been paying attention when it has been mentioned in the past...lol.

Thanks,
Mark

LT315/75R16 fits the stock M37 rims nicely, we have installed many. Very close in height to the original 9.00X16, slightly wider. Check out our website photo/client pages. The Yokohama radials we have used on several rebuilt trucks are these.

Thanks Charles, do you have any idea what size would be a little closer to the 11.00 x 16? I guess most tires that tall are wider. I would just like a little taller tire to help top speed on the road. I know there is a trade off in the lower end. I won't be making the change any time real soon but I want to figure out what I need so when I see a good deal on something I can take advantage of it. I get a discount on our tires but don't think they have the size range I need.

Thanks,
Mark

Taller is wider except for the 11.00X16.

I have seen a variety of companies like yokohama, toyo, dunlop, general, and cooper that have 315/75 R16 tires. Will these tires all work? Also will tires that fit on the M37 also fit on the M715? If not what size will work on a M715?
