Steering column upper bearing

I have pulled the steering wheel quite easy with my homemade puller. The bottom clamp is just a 3" riser clamp that pipefitters use. Now I'm angry, I pulled the outer column of the shaft to change out the bearing. I found only half the parts that the book shows!! The snap ring was on the shaft and a spring sitting on the snap ring. Other than the bearing that is in the upper end of the column, nothing else. I do remember Charles mentioning a split tapered ring that should be in there. So much for this being an easy one day job.

An easy one day job.....LOL. I didn't know there was such a thing on these trucks.

I like the rigged puller though. Nice job.

Update, since the vendor never replied to me about the wrong bearing he shipped me I'll design my own or use a suggestion that A.B. Linn gave me. I'll report back when it goes back together.

Done, New isolator, new steering wheel and home made column bearing that I turned out of 6/6 Nylon stock. Thanks A.B.Linn for the idea. Went to start the truck and now we have a new thread :(
