That truck would get a lot more views if it was listed under "Military Vehicles" or "Power Wagons" than in the category it's in.

Hello Ed,
Have you registered your rig yet. There weren't a many manufactured, most of those still around are gutted, no welder or compartments.
BTW, Welcome to the Forum!

M56 refers to the cab and chassis built by Dodge and delivered to another manufacturer for completion to a particular design, not the body itself. Yours is probably a CMU-3. I have a V-41 style body that came from the factory with an M56 data plate. Refer to Standard Catalog of US Military Vehicles (Doyle 2003) or TM9-1840C (Zentmyer 1987). Good luck. A little research and all the manuals you can find will go along way.

Thank you for the welcome. I plan to register this truck and my 1952 M-37 after they are titled. After 4 years, the M-37 is off the back burner and a current project that should make some upcoming events. The M-56 was bought recently and has a few trucks in front of it, but is exciting and in fair condition. Equipment is missing. Anyone wanting to compare info/pictures the the M-56's please email. Additional note - the tan paint was applied for a movie and is over dark OD.
