ok were had purchased the gun mount for the truck and didn't put it in since we want to keep the spare tire in the bed but I saw in army motors #125 on page 23 at the top there is a way to modify the spare tire bracket to still be in the bed, does anyone have a pic of this modification?

would love to get this finished, also we had made up our own troop seats since the wood was gone we had nothing to go by for lengths , how far should the wood extend forward past the front bracket on the pass side( where the spare tire is)?

Can't help on the gun mount, but check out Cabell's site for bed wood info.

If you haven't checked it out, Cabell's site is a treasure trove of info! Be sure to check out the pictures.

the mount we have goes in the front of the bed, someone here had email me the install directions but they don't list the tire mount, guess it was a later version of the book?

The manual I saw for the M24A3 installation instructed that the spare mount on the driver's door be obtained and the spare tire moved to it rather than remain in the bed. IMHO: The spare tire in the bed would likely get in the way of the gunner.

in the last army motors( I think ) there was a original pic of a 1953? m37 with gun mount and bed mounted spare caption stated there was a kit that came with the gun mount to remount the bracket we just made up a steel adapter to space the bracket up the 2" it was raised off the floor and used longer bolts with the original holes in the floorand stuck a piece of 2x6 under the tire to raise it works fine if someone want to post pics i can email em, seats still work also
