AERVOE discontinues 24087 and other camo paints in gallons

Today I talked to Aervoe and in a brilliant marketing move ( forced by the EPA perhaps) they have discontinued selling all of their camo paints in gallons. They still offer the spray cans. Looks like I will be finishing my truck with somebody elses brand as I do not want a rattle can finsh on my cab and bed :x I have two gallons left but I must spray the inside of the cab, the exterior, hood, fenders, and the entire bed over and under. Given I want 3 top coats I dont think I will make it even if I reduced it to water in consistency :(
Who else's Olive Drab semi-gloss have folks used?

I have a gallon of Gillespie 24087 that I got from Mark Dodd at RAPCO. Hope to apply it this summer.

Gillespie is da bomb for me, David you are in Ohio, right, AJP or Army Jeep Parts carries Gillespie Coatings, just do a Google search for them, they are in Levittown, PA, also Rapco in Texas carries it, maybe John @ Mid West Mil too? :wink:

I've used Aervo and I've used Gillispie and my money is with Gillispie. It is just a better paint. It isn't prone to fading like the Aervo is. Don't need special thinners just good old Xylen or Laquier thinner heck even miniral spirits will work. Stuff works good. The only thing is with the 24087 you need to use their primer to get the right color. Otherwise you'll either get the really green or the really baby poop brown.

IMHO Aervo just sucks!

Thanks guys. I will order up some Gillispie for the body top coat. As for my Aervoe, I will use it on either the undersides of the truck or my garden tractor will look lovley in ODSG :lol:

You will be much happier with GCI, if Aervoe-Pacific was 100% discontinued, it certainly would be no great loss as it isn't a top quality product.

Aervoe is a waste of money if you ask me. I painted a m715 last year for a local guy and I saw it a few days ago it faded bad. I can only say that I regret painting mt m37 with it. No loss here, if I had known I would have done something else.

David;

I must agree with the others here. I used Gillespie coatings paint on my truck when I painted it. I am happy I did. I used Aervoe on some small parts before the main paint job and I was very dissatisfied with their product. I noticed fading and chipping with the Aervoe not long after I applied it. I didn't notice any of that yet with the Gillespie.

Personally I could care less if Aervoe stops selling camo paint altogether as I think their paint is crap!

Tim,
Cabel Garbee, ie; (cgarbee) might even still have some? He's in North Carolina near Charlotte I think? He's on S/S more than he is here, do a Google search for his name or East Coast Convoy Commander, either one should land you on his web page.
Good Luck, 8)

Through Cabells site I got Rapco, and googled them. Just ordered a case of Strata blue and some rattle cans.
Cant wait to start making color!
