Mildy OT: Got me a Pioneer trailer this weekend.

I paid $550 for this trailer. Made in '67, seems in very good condition. tires are like new. I towed it with my F-150 and she did fine at 65mph.
I am thinking of taking this to Aberdeen to haul stuff back and forth.

Way to go John! I think I saw this on E-Bay once. Guys & Gals, isn't this some kind of ammo hauler?

Actually, its a tool trailer. They had a generator in it which powered electric tools. There were different types, though I am not that familiar with the different ones.

Nice trailer. It was good to see that it has the racks and tool holders still inside. I looked at two last year and both had the guts cut out with a cutting torch. I was still temped though. Tight on space so I ended up with a M416 instead. There has to be TM for the tool trailer somewhere...

When it warms up here, she's going back to overall OD. I will probably inspect the bearings too.

No doubt! Anyone who has seen or passed a trailer F.O.R.D. sitting on a spindle on more than one occasion knows to do a full bearing check any time they get a trailer-that includes renting one. I've rejected a number of U-Hauls because the wheel bearings were loose. One was so loose I thought the lug nuts were coming off.
Easy check: Put one hand on top of the tire, then using the other hand, rock each tire inward then outward. Loose bearings will vibrate with a "clunk clunk" in your hand that's on top of the tire.

Nice find, A great use would be to turn it into a big portable smoker. As far as pioneer tools goes, about 5 years ago I bought 5 pioneer tool boxes from Gov. auction. One was dated back to 1943 and I sold off most of the tools and ended up with some free tools I could use. The best tool in the boxes were the post hole diggers that could adjust and go close to 9 feet deep.

Great pictures! I now have a new list of tool to hunt for at flea markets.
I have already had a suggestion about making it into a smoker...haha....great minds think alike I guess.
But no, I'm going to use it for MV stuff, tools and/or storage.

John, that's freakin awesome. Well done! Even though you weren't sure what it was used for, the fact that you bought it and prevented it from ending up in the scrap heap is a huge plus!
Good luck with the restoration, if in fact that's what you have planned. Would be a fun project for sure.
