Trucks found in Thailand

Greetings.
I just found a group of M37 trucks in Thailand.
Thinking about buying one or two depending on what kind of engine possibilities I have. Probably a Nissan diesel will be my best and most economical option.
All the engines are locked up. and the trucks are generally in pretty sad shape.

The axle specs are perfect for my use.
Are these dodge/hotchkiss axles pretty easy and trouble free?
I plan on working the trucks and not really restoring for posterity.

Welcome to the forum BP! Lots of good info can be found here and I understand there are tons of M37 parts available in Thailand, so again, welcome to the hobby!

Yea I was tickled to find this site.
Some great pics in the gallery!

I'm hoping to use the trucks as a chipper platform, a water hauler and or maybe a dump bed.

On the axle issues, yes & no. Once the entire assemblies are gone through completely & built back to top notch condition, they are very dependable & durable. They are usually in sad shape however until such time. Water in the oil is a KILLER, most have it. They are also far & away the highest cost gear box on the truck to rebuild correctly.

Thanks to whoever fixed my picture links. I'm not sure why flickr is cranky about hosting images for certain forums.

I'm looking forward to finding out more what my options regarding engines will be. Likely I'll do something like what was done to my 1968 Land Rover 109. Which was to drop an engine/trans/transfercase assembly out of a 1990 Isuzu trooper.
I'm hoping to find a less expensive more readily available Nissan engine.

Too bad the cummins engine isn't readily available here. I'd love to keep the original transfer case with the 1.93 low range. :wink:
