The truck is a 1951 but was in service for a very long time. It was converted to a b1 by adding the later transmission and setting up the spare tire on the door.
Now dad and I have had a difference in opinions on what we both wanted so this is our story on what where telling and where were going with it.
Dad was former Airforce and he wanted it Strata Blue. I said no and wanted it army. So we decited to paint it late ww2 as it would have rolled off the line. My one mistake that I should have done was to paint the engine block silver but oh well. So now we knew it was going to be EOD with the red fenders. So I am setting it up as a Command truck US.Army with the early USA numbers on the hood. Well the airforce stole it and put a F at the end and used it for EOD. I have seen this done on a M38A1 which gave me the idea and then THIS VERY PIC SHOWED UP.
Dad had already done the bumper from other pics he found so it just backs us up even more.

Very nice looking truck. Keep up the good work.
Actually your not to wrong with your paint color. I've been stripping my 1953 down and yesterday I power washed it and took a lot of crud and paint off. The truck frame is black, then the in between wwII-24087 semigloss OD, then strata blue, then in civilian hands red, white, and brown. Very interesting.

Hiya, VTdeucedriver!
Good looking rig! It'll look especially sharp with the red fenders. Look forward to seeing how it comes out.
When my pops had first moved out to Arizona in the mid 90's, he told me he would like to find an old army jeep or something to prowl about in the desert. He never ended up doing that due to health problems, but he put the bug into me. Finally got my own MV last year, an exUSAF XM152 panel truck. Unfortunately, too late for my pops to enjoy, but I'm sure I'll have a sympathetic guardian angel, probably shaking his head, once I get it roadable.
I feel your pain about the color, tho'. I'm an Army vet, and when I got my vehicle, thinking it was a M43 ambulance, I thought it's gotta be OD! When I found out it was a very rare XM152, oh well, gotta go back to the original strata blue. No sweat tho', next rig will be OD!
