I think I had mentioned that we had bought a twin fan 24v 30k BTU heater from Red Dot (prior to the MWM buy). We got it to package up between the glove box and center support... anyone interested in buying or wants more info, let me know - Keith

Bolted straight to the circuit breaker support

Other end connects to the glovebox bottom

The only thing that it hits was the parking brake.

Very nice setup. If I may ask, do you have it ducted to the windshield or anything, or does it just blow down from up under the dash, as it seems in the photos? I'd like to add heat to my truck one day and am torn between an M151 heater or something like this one.

I don't need a blast furnace, just something to keep the chill off. What size unit would you recommend?

That looks nice. I am also willing to bet that is is hotter than my nos fender mounted unit. Mine looks cool and that is just about it. You can only count on it to take the chill out of your truck. I bet that thing is a lot more efficient.

We looked high/low for heat. A friend has a mutt heater and it takes up a ton of foot room IMO. This one installed barely peeks out below the dash. We checked thru tractor/CAT catalogs and found RED DOT. Go ahead and google them-they have an online catalog. Someone said that 25K BTUs was average for the military versions so we picked the higher BTU. We went with the twin blower cause we planned on 2 switches to control the heat. There is also a baffle that goes over 1/2 of the heater to which we were going to hook a flex hose and a defroster set up to for those days when needed. Pretty simple until the truck started coming together more as a resto than a knock around. JB at MWM scored the stock unit so it became a decision to switch over. We put the RED DOT in the box along with all the plumbing/shutoffs/etc. Brace yourself, they are not cheap - $295 for the twin 24v model. We'll put ours up for sale les than that in the next month or so. Let me know if you are interested.

knattrass, that is pricey, but nice. I installed a 40K BTU boat heater under the drivers seat on my M (Heater Craft 401HC Hydronic Heater, currently 207.99)

Wow, that's expensive, a little too much for my blodd. I'm gonna have to shop around for something a little more to my budget...

For what one is getting the price is reasonable considering that it is intended for commercial use. Also when you consider what I paid two years ago for a mostly complete nos fender heater kit it is way cheaper. I know how the beater truck turns into a resto. Mine is the classic example, it was going to be an decent unrestored m37. I have added so many things the heater fording kit door mounted tire carrier communications shelter pioneer tools 11r16 michelins jerry cans and the list keeps on going and going. I will never admit the time and money that have gone into it. But the smile on my face when I drive it is worth every penny, hour of labor and then some.
