Latest addition to the 'family' an M101 trailer

I recently aquired an M101 3/4 ton trailer, just a short distance from me too! What made it such a cool find was 1.) it was in pretty good shape, nice metal, no major dents, and virtually no rust, 2.) it was cheap, and 3.) it is the same year (1953) as my M37!

Here is a picture of it at a classic car show just a few weeks ago, after a three week whirlwind restoration...

Carl - you continue to be the "man" on M37 and now M101.... we also just purchased one locally but want to finish the truck b/4 we start! Great work - what did you use for your source of oak on the m101?

Thanks

The trailer was a nice find for sure. The oak came froma new company called hmvwood.com. thats a little joke, because I own the company... I made a few sets for the M37's so I formed a small business. I kept getting requests at shows so just decided to do it to help the hoba . so far I did a birdseye maple dash for a 38 roadster hot rod, bed floor wood for WWII german DAF truck, and a really cool bench seat for a 1936 school bus

Hiya, Carl!

Congrats on the trailer... it makes a sweet addition to your rig! If appropriate, I'd like to eventually get one for my truck (XM152). My truck had a trailer hitch and has a factory applied electrical connector for the trailer wiring, so I have to assume it *might* have dragged a trailer at some point.

Good work on your "whirlwind" resto job, your M101 really looks slick!

My son and I just did a ww2 and korean reenactment for the 'Moving Wall' the 1/2 scale traveling Vietnam wall, and we brought everything.... the only SNAFU was, after finally getting my son's 43 Willy's MB done and finished painted and marked, the morning we left for the show, the water pump blew... so it got trailered there.. Son was bummed, but he still took home heaps of praise for how good it looked. I ended up turning over the keys for my truck so he could do the parade and take vets for rides...

Special plug here for Rick Larsen, the paint masks as usual were quickly shipped, and very well made! If you notice on the trailer and all our mil vehicles is the 'Kilroy was here' mask I asked Rick to make up for me. It always draws lots of attention.

A professional photographer took some shots of the show, you can find them here. http://www.ericvidarphotography.com/reenactment/
