Mine has the rectifier in the grill in front of the radiator. Seller called it this. It is a small box with cooling fins on the drivers side. What is this used for

It has a huge braided line running to the generator. The seller told me something "electrical" was originally mounted in the bed because of a hole that is approx. 1.5 in dia. just left of center on the vertical wall in the front of the bed.
Thanks Barry

The item in question is a rectifier for a 100 amp charging system. These systems were used on radio trucks because of the high demand for electrical power. I have some spare parts for these systems if you need anything.

Yep it was for a radio truck most likely one with a commo shelter in it, but maybe an M42 command truck.

My truck is running with the 100 amp system. Please feel free to ask any questions and I'll help you out the best I can. I can provide pictures if you need that, too.
And your truck should have an alternator, not a generator. That's what the rectifier is used for. It converts the AC to DC.
