For those of you who are not on Steelsoldiers who might be interested (and I think any of us who live in an area where a neighbor can complain about our "toys" should be), there is a thread on that site about a MV owner who has been cited for a code violation for parking his M35A2C at his house.
The thread can be found at:
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php? ... ic&t=25552
He's been interviewed by a couple of TV stations and the local paper (and comes across very well IMHO):

So far, it looks like the media and most of his neighbors are behind him.
His hearing on this is next week.

I've been watching that situation on Steel Soldiers, and I agree that he should be allowed to keep it at his house if he wants to. What I find most interesting is the fact that the person who filed the complaint chooses not to identify himself (or herself). That's pure cowardice, if you ask me.
I really hope he wins his "war." If he does, however, you can bet that the city council will have an "emergency meeting" to amend that particular ordinance. It's happened before. My town, for example, has an ordinance that won't let you park a "heavy duty" truck at the curb in a residential area. They define a "heavy duty" truck as one that has dual wheels on the rear. That means you can't legally park a half-ton dually pickup in front of your house! It's ridiculous! Our ordinance was amended purely because the guy who lived across the street from our mayor at the time parked his trash truck in front of his house overnight 3 or 4 times in the winter so that he could plug the block heater in for easier starting in the morning. The truck was seldom parked there before 1800 and always gone by 0600. "His honor" viewed it as an unacceptable blight on his neighborhood and pretty much "mandated" the amendment. Thankfully, he was not reelected, but the ordinance still stands since nobody has had any reason to challenge it (yet).

As soon as I began to look at the video(I have no sound on this computer so had to guess at what was being said) I understood why this guy is having trouble, newer neighborhood, obviously run by an association of Payton Place yuppies, with ridiculous rules out the wazoo!
I do think he'll hurt his cause if he leaves the vehicle parked in the street. Lets face it not everyone sees the sight of an old army truck and right away thinks "hey that's cool"....But he chose to move into that neighborhood so I would imagine he was aware of any associations and possible troubles therefrom as well. If not then shame on him.
I'm not trying to be a jerk but you do have to be cognizant of what the neighbors are going to think, even though they really have no right to say anything. Its basic courtesy really. I always consider my neighbors before I do things, and I hope they show me the same courtesy. Luckily for me I can park my truck in the garage out of sight, and luckily for me all my neighbors think my truck is cool, and our town is pretty lenient with its ordinances. But then again I live on a dead end street with a cornfield across from my house and only 3 neighbors to deal with, so I guess I can't really relate.
Nobody wants to live with a fued. Not that I agree with these neighbors, just the opposite, I think they're a$$holes, but when you live in a tightly packed development such as that and you are in this hobby you do have to realize that you will stand out like a sore thumb, especially in Yuppieville. Every move this guys makes now is being watched and probably documented. I think he's in for a tough time, although I do hope he makes out OK and wins his fight.

I'm willing to bet if whoever complained about the truck got a chance to drive it for a bit, would change their mind pretty quickly. These beasts are just too fun to drive, you can't deny it.
Unfortunately by complaining, the complainer is just emphasizing their prejudices and preconceptions.

I do have sound on my computer and know what kind of neighborhood it is. They do not have an association. The ordinance is against "Recreational Vehicles" Supposed to refer to ones you sleep in. It is a bunch of bull what they are trying to do, living in a neighborhood or not Deuce's are not RV's!
