Okay, so I'm on my way home from work today and I hear this funny noise... kind of a clicking, inconsistent noise. About a minute later steam is coming out from the engine compartment. Luckily, I was about 100 feet from my driveway.

When I opened the hood after letting it cool down for about a half hour, I noticed water running consistently out of the fan housing. I let another hour pass before I removed the radiator cap and added some water. It too ran right out of the fan housing. Also, the fan wobbles (as if it were about to fall off. Although no bolts are loose.

Is this the sign of a blown water pump?
Where can I get a NOS or rebuilt one?
Cost?

Thank you.

Forgot to add.... This is a 1954 M37. No grease fittings on this water pump.

I'd have to guess your water pump is kaputs! Not sure if you can have it rebuilt or not. I'm sure someone will post here. Otherwise do a web search for M37 dodge engine parts and you'll find a few vendors who'll have them.

Midwest Military,if you can't find one I have a new one from him . Some of the shafts on the new ones are shorter and the spacer must be machined, I did this to mine so the stock length shaft one from Midwest wouldn't work. The one from Midwest that I have has the grease fitting.

If you can afford to wait, the NAPA stores have a re-build service... about 2 weeks.

The earliest trucks had a grease cup instead of an actuall zerk. They are hard to find since during rebuilds they got replaced usually.

I've still got a 6-volt generator and a couple of old water pumps with grease cups on them. I just use 'em to show the neighborhood kids "how it used to be." The idea of "squishing" a glob of grease into the cups with their fingertips grosses 'em out! When they finish going "E-e-e-ew!," I show 'em how to hand-pack wheel bearings. That gets 'em going again!
I've substituted for the auto shop teacher at our local high school a few times, and am amazed with their unwillingness to get their hands dirty!
