Blackout Drive Light

While rewiring the blackout drive light I found it has a lot of corrosion on the bulb to wire area. If I can't solder new wires onto what's left is there a decent replacement anyone used?

I would like to keep the metal housing and not go composite if possible.

Midwest Mil probably has one.

You can readily find just the replaceable lamp assembly that sits in the housing most you see have the visor but I have seen just lamps as well (older and still metal).

Well a little work and I was able to solder replacement wires on the lamp.

Tested before, tested after: THERE IS LIGHT!!

The solder is much better than the pic shows.

I went a different route when I converted a couple of them to 12V. I drilled out the base of the original bulb, reached inside the housing and shattered the original lamp and shook out the mess.
I then fitted a modern halogen lamp to the housing and put Douglas connectors on the wires. Works great and still functional as BO light.
