This section is on the battery box and my attempt on fabricating a lid from photos I have collected over the past couple of years. I got this box from one of my newfound friends on here Brett out of Murfressboro, TN. He has been a huge help and source of parts. Thanks Brett!
I don't think it turned out too bad. The only thing that is out of place is the hinge strips on the rear, but it will be very difficult to see them once installed. As always all comments are greatly appreciated.

Lid, handle and latch piece fabricated.

Latching rod is from a weedeater blade locking rod. Still need to do a little work on it.

Hinge straps are not exactly as originals, but will be very hard to see once installed.

Finished product. All that is needed is paint.

The progress is looking good. I would be careful with the silicone. I prefer a polyurethane caulk, it is more durable, stays adhered to whatever it is stuck to, and is paintable. I see lots of places in my line of work where silicone is peeling off. Plus if you ever need to do any touch up painting, and some was wiped onto the paint, the new paint will repel away from the silicone. Silicone is great for fish tanks, but thats where I leave it!

I stand corrected, Tim. It is polyurethane and not silicon. I specifically looked for something that is paintable.

That looks like quality work to me! My old battery box now holds a bunch of my oversized tools as a catch-all....
Nice job!

Looks like you are making good progress on your truck.

The guard dog looks like he's doing a good job.

Officially he is a Boxer. Unofficially I tell people he is half watch and half pack dog. He will watch them pack it all off.

And thanks for the support. Have some hay to cut today and a county commission meeting tonight. May have a slack week working on it again.

I think the TP40 is 'tire pressure 40 psi'?
