Hey Jag, here's a current picture (hasn't changed from last Veterans' Day). I'm sure to have 5 figures in it by now (going back to 2004) and I've tracked the expenses but don't want to know

, and I figure about 2K more will finish it (brakes needing an overhaul, drums, etc.).
Also, I towed mine with a 2006 Ram 1500 Quad-cab Hemi from California, over Donner Pass, across Nevada and into Utah using a U-Haul trailer (with another picture if you click the 2nd link and scroll down). Told the attendant "...a 54 Dodge pickup" and it went smooth as silk (except the trailer lights failed so I had to run my M37 markers all night long)....

I saw your picture that you posted which looked like some rolling hills in the background..
It seems as if You have a beautiful view from your driveway AND your back porch! Awesome photo.
I know the towing capacity of my '11 Dodge says 10,280, the ball says it's only rated for 5,000.
When I got the hitch put on there, the guy told me it was the best he had that I would tear up my truck before I ever pulled too much for the hitch. I think I can wing it though: The closer the M37 I find the better!
I have done so much research in the past week, I am surprised I can still see straight! I have spent countless hours behind the computer screen lurking around on all pages of this forum, I have just about finished every current thread on m715zone website, as well as all the HMMWV websites. I think I have a firm grasp on every knowledgeable thing I may need to know about all 3 except for what the heck they look like in person!

Minus the HMMWV M998 of course because I had to drive one around quite a bit in my military days.
I have done so much lurking everyday, that I don't think they even know I am at work half the time, and I am a supervisor at a Machine shop. I'm also finishing up my Aerospace Engineering degree, and it's eating into my school work!
I guess I have been bitten by the bug, and I am addicted!
I really appreciate ALL of everyone's kind words and direction. Pretty soon you'll see less words and more pictures; Build pictures that is!

I suppose the only thing still really bothering me is the top end. As Brett may know, the closest trails and offroad places to ride is close to 2 hours away for me on the other side of cookeville. That is a long haul at 45-50 for these beauties, and I know they aren't designed to do it. I hate to think I have something as incredible as this and be stuck with 15-20 minute commutes here and there.
As I stated before, I don't want a trailer queen, I drive what I build. Sometimes daily! How can I ever get past this hurdle?
My fiance's dad lives that 2 hours away and does all of his off-roading out there. Going off into God's country alone is no fun,

Jag,
The thing about the speed, or lack of it, is mostly a mindset thing. If you want to go fast, this is probably not the right truck for you. If you can wrap your head around taking it easy, and letting the trip to your destination be as much fun as the destination, then you will love it. I have a Power Wagon, repowered with a 318, 11:00-16 Michelin XZLs, electric overdrive, power steering, disc brakes in the front etc etc. It will cruise comfortably at 60, even took it up to 70 on the interstate once just to do it. Truth is, 90% of the time its the M37 that I climb into to go for a drive. If you get too many cars piling up behind, pull over and let em by. Sometimes life is much more enjoyable at a stately pace!

Rolling hills doesn't begin to tell the story: we bought our home in the picture last year, just outside Salt Lake City, at an elevation of 6200 feet! Those are the Wasatch Mountains, and if there were a trail going straight over that peak we'd run right into Park City, the famous ski town. These is one lone trail over on those cliff faces that I intend ot take my M on, if I can ever spring the funds for the brakes....

Brakes?? Brakes???? you no need no steeeenking brakes, just a tequila and low range and first gear, any maybe stand on the trail and watch someone else do it as you wal behind

Well fellas I got laid off on Friday. Definitely didnt see it coming..
Looks like these dreams and ambitions will have to be put on hold for awhile until I can get back up on my feet.
Thank you all for your kinds words, inspiration and help.
Ill still be lurking around the forums so ill see you guys around.
At least I got the day off for my birthday! =/

JAG....sorry to hear about that....really. But on the bright side....you'll have to time to hang around here, ask lots of dumb questions (like I do) and learn a lot. There's a lot to know about these vehicles, and lots of mods people have done. So don't be a stranger.....just jump right in. And we all hope you get another job back ASAP.
And for what it's worth.....I didn't lose my job....I work for the Navy and I'm being furloughed starting in a few weeks and continuing thru September thanks to our illustrious Commander and Chief not knowing what the heck he's doing. Only one day a week.....but it'll hurt.

Hello,
I read in this thread about using an equipment trailer from Sunbelt because it has heavier axles so I called Sunbelt and they say that the distance between the fender wells is 6 feet=72 inches. I am not co-located with my truck but refered to my Operators manual and it lists the width as 6ft 1 and a half or so inces. (more than 72) So my question... is how can you carry a M-37 on an equipment trailer from Sunbelt if it won't fit between the fenderwells? Are the measurements in the manual incorrect? He said this is the trailer all sunbelts have. I just need to know before I get a trailer a few states away and it won't fit.
