Ok thank you!!
so what could have caused my coil to blow?

as you described, the engine will not have power at high rpm, it will die until iddle and I feel its electrical.
I will be working on many points, imagine this engine was 8 years stopped so i will be slowly diagnosing and fixing.

Maybe an original 24v coil is designed to isolate 24v+ so it will work better on a 6v installation. Maybe
12v designed coils will not hold 24v regarding isolation. That might be the cause of my blown coil.
Another thing could be the 100v measured at the battery connections. I have to solve that.

Peter Debella of Debella Jeep Parts contracted with a manufacturer to make a run of new, quality 24V coils that will fit an M37. It's listed as an M38 & M38A1 24 Volt Ignition Coil, but will also fit an M37. They are in stock now, and going for $55 + shipping.

Well, that's a bummer! Do you know if that's a Debella Jeep Parts coil? I just ordered one.

I think he said "one of the new black" coils.
Watch the video again.
I think the whole series of posts on the subject of coils has to be read:

We should change the topic title to COILS

The imported chrome-plated coils are notoriously bad.
