2 1/2 and 5-ton trucks handle very differently. The NDT's are better quality in the larger sizes. The brake drums on the larger trucks are much heavier and thus better too; M37 drums were thin when new. After worn somewhat, a few hard brake applications will cause them to warp readily. Turning them is pretty much a waste also, after turning, they are so thin that even moderate heating will bring about warping. These types of issues are way less likely on larger trucks.

They all handle like 1950s era trucks big and small. :D
Interesting what you said about the quality of the NDTs on larger sizes. We did balance the tires on our M151 when we installed them new , just for the sake of it, it drives nice.
That's amazing they didn't make the drums with much room for turning them. I'm sure there is a maximum spec somewhere for the M37 drums. We used to turn truck drums [air brake]a lot now hardly ever do, cheaper/quicker to replace like most things. Same with rotors.

Yes there is a max spec. 99% of M37 drums will be past that spec by the time enough material is cut to get it back round.
