Looking inside the engine it definitely has 14 odd-thousand miles on it. My machine shop that I took it to said to "see if you could find parts online for the motor". Went through Midwest, Old Mopar Parts.com and Vintage Power Wagon. Are there any other sources that anyone else knows about (other than ebay)?
Thanks,

My advice now would be to run from this machine shop. If they can't supply needed parts, obviously they don't have a clue has been my experience. It is a fact that parts availability through machine shop sources offer the best pricing for new parts. We can help you with anything you need if you like, however when you find a machinist that knows what is going on with your particular engine; they will know where to source parts at a good price. You have chosen someone who either doesn't know or simply isn't willing to offer the help you need, move on before you get burned.

I agree with Charles-any reputable shop should have multiple parts sources for such a common engine. Find another local shop or utilize the reputable vendors on this forum who guarantee their work-pony up now to avoid future pain....

Ok, a little background on my machine guy - most custom builders use him (I've used him before too). He is about 80 years old, has his own little local shop that's been open forever and does all the work himself but he hates having to use the internet. He has access to all of the parts but is actually helping me out by letting me look around to see if we can find parts for less expensive. Sorry if you guys mis-understood that and I appreciate your concerns.
Thanks,
George

I'm not knocking your guy, older folks certainly tend to do better work, but I wasn't born last night either. Shopping for parts via the net is a great way to get junk unless you some how have proof of quality before you spend money. There is lots of junk out there, mostly marketed over the net. WHY? Simply because you spend your money before you realize you have been screwed. Not saying all net purchases are bad, but I've seen so many get burned, I have little confidence. NOS stuff is out there for cheaper cost, but it is not as good as current production quality parts; technology has improved light years over 60 years; although NOS is better than some of the imported junk being marketed via the net. My opinion is absolutely buying from a KNOWN reputable source, and a source you can back up on in the event something is not as expected. Few internet sources offer these options that you can be sure of. That's just how I see it.
