Gary With of Specialty Restorations is who did my restorations this time. He does incredible work; it is just amazing.

My directions to him were to "re-manufacture the truck and trailer to like new". He did that. A truly amazing job. The truck is now "beautiful" as an unintended consequence. That is the one thing that leaves me feeling a little weird. I was in the Army when these trucks were still being used ('68 to '71) and I'm not used to them being "pretty"; I liked them because they were a living example of letting "function define form".

I seriously can't praise Gary's work enough. All the superlatives are just not adequate to describe the quality.

One of his first days on the job the forman came by and asked him what he was doing and he told him that he was grinding the weld smooth. The forman told him "that's good enough it's a f*****g tank not a f******g Cadillac!" Therefore I believe that many of these trucks when they rolled off the assembly line where less than perfect.

I want you friends name, and that foreman's name! The survivors of the 1st of the 5th (M) have a bone to pick with them. I can't tell you how many ripped pants we had to endure with those un-ground snotty welds.
