That is an unfortunate coincidence that the pat number M37 isnt for an M37! Bound to cause all sorts of confusion. What is the correct M37 part number?
Thanks,
Tim

I went and talked to the shop owner this morning, he said he wouldn't deposit my check and asked me to bring it back in so they could clean it again. I'm dropping it off at a different shop tomorrow.

Are the only replacements for the oil pump NOS?

No replacement for a pump with an offset slot in the civilian system that I know of, never has been.

There are some NOS pumps still around at various mil parts vendors; once they are gone it will be acquire a Melling M37 and off to the machine shop, because the parts in a mil spec pump do not interchange with the Melling M37 internals.

With that amount of debris coming out of the water jackets, I wonder if they even removed the water distribution tube from the block before hot tanking? Good luck RC 51 with the resolution. I hope all works out.

I totally agreed with Cuz's statement about contacting the vendor as you have done, Now that you have given them this chance to make things right there would be other questions to ask while the engine is there, was the transfer tube even checked? was the rest of the machine work properly done?. Clearances of the whole engine would need to be rechecked for me to feel good about the job especially after what you have found. The questions would go on.
I know it sucks to do all of this after you think the work has been done, but a reasonable doubt has been put in front of you so they will have to win your trust all over again and I bet that is what will happen.
