I agree with Wayne, these tire carriers are a PITA.
My truck came with one attached but after a few drives it drove me nuts having to unlatch the things to open the drivers door.
I now have my spare in the bed.
My carrier is in immaculate condition and would easily be worth upwards of $500.

Wayne64 wrote:Let me add a little. If you indeed use the truck leave it off. I have one on mine and if it wasn't for me changing out the cab tub this summer it would already be in the bed laying on floor. I will be keeping it though for resale value if I ever sell the B1, along with the soft top frame. I have been using the passenger side for two years now and thats OK, but not when you have a passenger. As far as Fabbing one up, sure I personally could do it IF I needed one, otherwise I would never be able to charge my labor and make someone feel they weren't ripped off. I'll add one more thing; That is the danger factor, by which I mean if you didn't get it latched good and make a hard right turn the tire swings out. It happened to me once with no ill effects, but there was no other traffic.
I concur with Wayne.
My truck came with the door carrier also and I used it for a few weeks and then removed it.
The problem here in the UK is that , as you know, we drive on the left and if that wheel swings out it has a good chance of hitting someone on the sidewalk. Having said that it is probably more serious for you guys as if it swings out
it could hit another vehicle. I hate to think what mess that could make.
So, unless you are a purist, leave the wheel in the bed, where it belongs!
Cheers
