No need to use a sawzall to remove the run-flat. After the LAV rim is removed, simply reach in and work a chain around the runflat insert & hook it to an engine hoist. Place engine hoist front legs on top of the tire sidewall, and connect chain to hoist hook. As you gently pump up the hoist ram, spray a mixture of dishsoap & hot water around the tire bead & the runflat, and the runflat will slowly 'birth' it's way out of the tire.

Hi Tanner,
I have heard of that method, but having seen and dealt with the runflats, I thought "No way that would work" But hey, seeing is believing. Thanks for the picture, like I said, I didnt believe it would work.

Yeah, Tim...it works. Takes a lot of lube, though, and the labor pains are fierce. As stated in another post, that there K-Y Jelly will reduce the friction and ease withdrawal.

Just wondering if you might have four of the GKN 1 Piece tubeless wheels left for a 1953 M37. Saw your post on the web and thought i would enquire. My Email is
mprowse19@mac.com and my name is Matt Prowse. I live in colorado and would be have to pay for shipping. As well do you have any leads on 16 X 11.00 michelin XL's. Thank you so much Matt.

Did anyone find out if GKN have these wheels as a stock item?
Would it be possible for one of you kind souls to enquire on my behalf?
I would be interested in importing them into the UK.
Cheers

SECO Augusta lists that they have over 1,000 in stock... look at their spreadsheet, line 27247, stating inventory of 1,018 Wheel Assys, NSN 2530-01-534-1110
Note, however, that this list may be old; their website -
http://secoaugusta.com/inventory_1.asp - lists a link to this spreadsheet stating "You may also download a complete list of our current inventory by clicking here."
Try giving them a call...

SECO replied with the following today in regards to my inquiry on the GKN 1-piece rims:
" We have approx. 60-65 wheels in stock. Price - $ 368.00 each, fob Augusta."
OUCH!

... the seller, JIMBOB1111, posted on October 26th, 2010, that he had sold out.
This is why I did the legwork & found that SECO has stock available...

To anyone that has disc brakes, these wheels will hit the calipers. The rims have a different drop in them than the stock wheel that has more of a dish shape.

jlabnet:
RE-READ through the post; The Seller sold out of these rims 2 years ago. The Seller hasn't been back on this forum since November 20, 2010... he's AWOL.
As I had posted earlier, SECO had the rims available as of February 2012, at $368.00 each...
