It is common for lifter bores to get overlooked during DIY overhauls and then leave the owner wondering where the low oil pressure or the ticking is coming from on his fresh rebuild.

As for the lifter ticking the lifters are available in oversizes to close that gap.
Where are any of the oversize tappets? I have not found any in years. The last ones a fellow claimed to have that I bought were nothing more than take-outs, not even new standards.

Yep, that's one of the sizes. Like any of this old NOS stuff, you need to be lucky, or in the right place at the right time, or know somebody that knows somebody that knows somebody!
The Willys 4 banger OS lifters can also be tough to find sometimes. But they are out there.

If they are worn enough to cause the ticking, it's highly unlikely an .008" over will be large enough to fix the problem. We have a few .030" oversize I've seen a few bores not even they would fix. For years there were none out there, standard or overs, guess VPW has come across a few and I really wonder if they are new, I'd have to see them to be convinced.
