Charles you really need not be so defensive. Had I considered your previous remarks on this post in error or questionable I would not be the bashful one. I would say it out loud and clear. In your most recent post you did seem to declare an unsubstantiatedbut if you happen to be saying that I have claimed either a horsepower boost or fuel economy boost after installing this upgrade
claim of better performance which I guess is the different way we define performance. I did define it for my post above. I think you tried to separate reliability from horse power but you just didn't put it all in the same sentence.Any gas engine with a top notch ignition system that this module provides does perform better.
We obviously disagree a lot on this performance claiming issue but as I said above the claims in this thread so far have been unsubstantiated. Feels good, feels better, seems to crank easier are the same mentally suggestive results we see from folks who swear by their Marvel mystery Oil. Lots of folks feel better, look better, smell better, sound better, cranks faster, seems smoother but not one single person has produced a scientific comparison. Not heavy duty lab stuff required here at all. Take one M37, Test one rebuild the distributor, add a set of quality ignition points and condenser, time it correctly and run it on a dyno. Test Two remove points and condenser, install Pertronix, set timing and run it on the dyno.
Bipity Bam there you have it. There's only 3 possible answers.
1-Pertronix is better.
2-Points are better.
3-They are both the same.
