You're absolutely right! My apologies, Tony, if you misunderstood my intent. I, too, lost family members in Korea and still have a couple of uncles who left body parts over there. Trust me, I know it was a war, regardless of what the history books call it. Incidentally, no one ever sued for peace in that war. We have a cease fire agreement, and that is all. Technically, that "police action" is ongoing to this day. That is why there is still a DMZ between North and South Korea.

As far as finding Korean War gear goes, WWII gear is "correct." It was still being issued to us in the Air Force when I joined up in 1961 and didn't get completely phased out until sometime in the '70s or early '80s.

there are a couple of reenactment units on the internet for the Korean war. You can find the information there. I did some digging on this exact topic for when we get our M37 done.

We are going with HBT's as they were still being used into the 60's.

My first employer was in the Army in '66-69 and he said that guys were still wearing the old "iron button" HBT shirts when he was in. His D.I. had a pair of M1943 buckle boots dyed black.

Antonio,
Wow what a wealth of knowledge you bring to us! No apology is necessary on either side-we read your passion for Korea; we also know Lifer meant no disrespect of any kind.

I did a tour in Korea in '77-'78 and lost an uncle over there in '59. It is a beautiful country but I'm sure has since "grown up" since I was last over there....

There's no reason to appologize for feeling strongly about memories which are real and may cause discomfort. We are a family here and our favorite thing is the M37 so anyone who has an interest can join our family!!

(We may argue from time to time but it's all part of the fun!)

:)
