Green, unfortunately, I agree with you. God forbid if people have to slow donw a crack and go around some historic relic of the past.

When America hit the late 60's/early 70's and everything became disposable is when we were screwed.

It's a disposable society, in more ways than one.

I read a great quote on another forum I frequent. A guy there had this in his signature:

"America is currently at a very difficult point. It's too late to stop them; and too early to shoot them."

Emailed this to my representatives:

Representative Van Akkeren,

As an owner of a nearly restored 1954 Dodge M-37 Military Vehicle, I am discouraged to hear that LRB-3562 was written without the intent of giving myself and other military vehicle owners the right to use and modify our vehicles as we see fit, within the bounds of state DOT regulations. As the bill is currently written, it is limited to very strict interpretation, as it currently requires all MV's to be maintained and presented in original design and manufacture. Here is the segment of the bill I take exception to:

""Former Military Vehicle" means a vehicle, including a trailer but excluding a tracked vehicle, that is at least 25 years old, was manufactured for use in any countries military forces, and is maintained to accurately represent its military design and markings, regardless of the vehicles size or weight.""

As I have no idea what branch of service my truck came from, nor its assigned serial number, if I randomly picked a hood serial number or paint scheme for my vehicle, I would technically be in violation of this new law. Also, as some trucks were built as gun trucks, with fully operational machine guns, armor, and defenses, as the law is written, if they do not display those items, they are in violation of the law. Obviously we cannot have vehicles operating on our roads with operational weapons, but, I think you see my point. The bill needs to be modified to allow us the same rights as other vehicle enthusiasts.

Other historic and collector vehicle owners are not held to this standard, and I feel we as collectors of historic MV's are being singled out in this legislation. Please work to remove this very strict wording, and protect our historic vehicles from overreaching laws and regulations.

Thank you.
