Maybe it's just an M37 issue but I have run these capacitors for well over 30 years with only one failure in M38's and M38A1's. That one failure was easy to sort out with an ohm meter. One just needs to remember that when he has a suspected coil failure to check all wires, the condenser and the capacitor before buying a coil.

But there are quite a few MV'ers that don't even know about the RF filter in the base of the dist

Well then this is the perfect place to let them know it's there, it's not harmful to their distributor, it keeps the neighbors TV and radio from becoming unusable while the truck is running near their house and if they should have a suspected coil failure to be sure to check it's condition first before condemning their expensive coil. :)
