WTB ARCTIC Top For M-37 in AZ

Post by mkoloc »

Need an Arctic Kit / Hardtop for a 1953 M-37. Does not need to be restored. Don't want a NEW top. Something in decent shape, located in AZ area so that I can pick it up preferred.

Thank you,
Mark

Good luck Mark - I hope you can find one close, but they are getting very hard to find. I finally had a MVPA buddy in Washington State, pick me up one out of Canada, for my 51. He is helping me with getting it sandblasted, and rot replacement parts made in a fab shop up there that has helped him with his. The top is one issue, and the inside metal skin liner is the other. I still am unsure how much I'll end up with in mine, but at least I have it headed in a direction.

Day late and a dollar short.
I traded my hard top straight across for a soft top in Scottsdale.
Truthfully, I'm glad I did. Unless you are putting AC in your truck, It mqy not be worth it. (Unless you are in cold country, an insulated top will help with heat.)

I am also looking for a hard top, don't think I will be any competition for you Mark since I am on the other side of the country.

VPW has fiberglass tops,if you "must have" a hard top.

I still have my old CCKW top in the basement, still in need of repair to include a new window but still serviceable. I confess I'd have a hard time giving up the canvas top, especially with the lack of snow this winter....

I have not put a top down in 20 plus years on my jeeps so I doubt I will do so on the M37 either. After spending the first 50 years of my life out in the sun I figure I am pushing my luck if I am doing it just for fun this late in life also. I don't figure there is much difference in heat with the canvas top or hard top if they are both up is there?

The steel was unbearable in the summer heat and much louder in the cab when driving.

You get a bit of cold wind up your back while driving. If your weatherseals are good, it is quite comfortable driving. If they are bad, you won't notice the top

Running my canvas top, I wear my winter coat, and my MUTT heater does very well once I get up to operating temp (that does take a while-I need to make a radiator cover since I don't have the Arctic kit....)

Insulated coveralls work well or just dress in layers.
I took one of my M-37s out on Saturday (15 degrees and light snow). This one currently has no windshield, no doors, no heat.
Still plenty of fun driving, although driving long distance at “high speed” would be another story...

M-37 and high speed are a contradiction of terms.

I've just spotted an arctic radiator cover in my area-will see about obtaining it in a week or two.
More to follow,
