Lazy fuel gage in '63 M37

Post by outpostm37 »

Anyone else have this issue: When the switch is turned on, the fuel gage takes 40 or so seconds to "wake up" and read.
The charge gage wakes up instantly.
Thx

I would think the most likely cause is "stiction"in the gears or ancient lube inside the gage. Not sure if that can be remedied.

Good luck,

I used to have to "tap" mine and it was good after that. Then I had to tap it a couple times, then I had the "really" tap it and now it just works when it wants to which is usually at full song going down the road. By the way this is in my M-151 and anybody that has ever been in a 151 at full speed on the road knows how they vibrate. Explains why it works then.
