M37 ID information

Post by garm »

Looking for any information about my truck. Tried to enter it into the registry and was rejected because "8025809" is not a valid serial number (but that's what it is).

Here is a bunch of info, I don't know what's important or not.

GLOVEBOX TAGS/INTERIOR

Procurement & Depot Maintenance: "ORD. CORPS"
ORD. STOCK No. G2741-8358322
SER. No. 80258094
DATE DEL. 12-8-53
MODEL: T245
CONTRACT NO. 12107
** Next to the glovebox is a stencil TP 40 ** (see below, also on fenders)

EXTERIOR
ARMY 201012068
Front bumper passenger side: 1457
Front bumper driver side: 8 and xx62, possibly 3062
Rear bumper passenger side: 8
Rear bumper driver side: 2576 or 2578? Or neither xxxx
All four fenders have TP-40
Both doors have large yellow Civil Defense stickers.

OK -- what can you tell me about it?

The glove box tag could of been swapped along its journey.

I would suggest finding the Frame serial Number located in the drivers side front wheel well near the steering gear box. It may be difficult to see due to years of different paint or under coating being applied.

Let us know what you find.

Agreed-you appear to be one digit short in the VIN, and Bert is right-the tag might be swapped in.

That comes up as a good number.

See page 48 of the Registry, your truck was built 41 trucks after Clint Goodson's truck in Dec of 1953.

Go ahead and enter your details to get that truck and yourself entered into the sites system. If you are looking for build information I think Dodge is still sending build card copies out.

Build cards: $25 - $45 for cars (based on decoding availability) and $25 for trucks (no decoding available)
Checks and money orders, payable to Chrysler LLC, are accepted for all Archival services.

Ordering
Material can be ordered in writing via U.S. Mail, e-mail or fax with the following information:

owner's full name
mailing address, phone number and e-mail address
make, model and year of the vehicle
specific documents and/or images requested
All build record requests must include the vehicle's VIN or serial number and proof of ownership (a photocopy of the title accepted)

Thanks for saving another one.
