What vintage is this motor?

Post by rml1708 »

I am looking at a M37 with a frame number indicating a March 1952 frame.

The engine in the truck is numbered : US - 24 -II220

The truck also has the m151a2 alternator without the big regulator on the dash.

Can someone tell me what vintage the motor is? I am assuming it's a replacement motor.

Thanks,

Robert

Check the left side of the block behind the oil fill tube just above the pan rail. Both of my engines have a date cast in there.

Great! I have been wondering how to find when my truck's motor was built, and using A's information above, just checked a picture of my block just aft of the filler tube and it was cast on 7/12/51, which suggests it is original to my truck, which was built in December of '51.

thanks....

My "new" engine was cast a month after my truck was delivered. The civilian engine that is in there now was made in 48.
