Kids love military trucks!

Post by wvcharlie »

Every year all of us downtown merchants host an event called Kid's Day. We all provide something for children to do for free. I bring my fleet down and open them up for everyone to go through and play in. I also set up a water stop with a lister bag. The adults are as interested as the kids. One man asked me if this was my private museum. I had never really though of it that way. I guess we all have our own rolling museums that we share with the public on occasion.ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Here is a photo of me and my truck equipped with one each lovely assistantImage

I really want a M43. A guy has a old '42 WC Ambulance he equipped that's nice as your 725. I like the water bag you put up also. id like to have that set up for events we do.

Great pix and story, Charlie!
I always remembered your original post on this topic and make it a point to get the interested youngsters some canvas time whenever I'm puttering around town! Unfortunately it's been close to 100 degrees for the past month so driving in the heat is on hold for now.

I also brought my M-37 to a "Touch A Truck" event here in Aiken, SC. The kids LOVED it. It was the biggest draw of the event. Had to spend 10 mins switching/unswitching things back to normal and it will take hours to remove lollipop marks and baby drool but I'd do it again.
BTW, where did you get that ladder for the tailgate ???

Thanks all for the comments. The ladder is actually a boarding ladder for a boat. They are available from many locations on line. I just cut it to the length I needed. I liked it better than the military ones because of the hand rails make it easier and safer for kids ( and adults) to climb up in. Another added advantage is, it is made of aluminum so it is much lighter.

Our local A&W has a vintage car show every Thursday. Every few weeks I take my M37 down there. Most vehicles have the "No Touch" signs. I encourage people, especially kids, to hop in. They love it.

I pick up my 2nd grader grandson at school sometimes.
In the ambulance with both mascots on security duty.
Even the teachers and crossing guards love it.
