1962 M37 Newbie Restore

Post by jrodjared »

Hey Everyone,

New to the board here. I've slowly been posting pics of my build on other forums with not much response or help. After my first trip to the Iowa Power Wagon Rally last year I heard this board was the cat's meow! Been meaning to start a thread so here it goes.

I've got a ton of pictures, but I'll just give you the highlights up until now.

So that's the recap up until now. Like I said I have TONS more photos that I can make available if anyone is interested. Trying to document this as best as I can. Most importantly, I forgot to give you the back story.

So we bought this truck for my dad as a retirement project back in 2005. He never got around to doing much with it, and my mom was tired of it being under her deck. When she threatened to get rid of it, I knew I had to do something! It was originally from Texas, then it sat in NJ for about six years until 2011ish when I brought it down to Maryland. Progress has been slow, but I am chugging along as best as I can.

Here's a before with my father and I working on the truck together:

Here's where I am with it now:

We try to work on it as often as we can together, but it's hard when you live six hours apart! He's going to be down here over Easter for about a week. Hoping to get the engine in my donor going so I can pull it and start working on the teardown.

More pics to come. I appreciate and comments or feedback cause I really have no idea what I'm doing! Thank you YouTube/Internet?

Welcome aboard JRod!
We love photos and you've certainly hit the ground running with these! We're biased but you've hit the BEST M37 forum anywhere-new posts go up daily, from anywhere on the globe, and the expertise available here is unparalleled! In Baltimore you have the advantage of the annual Aberdeen swap meet and show; as well as some of our forum members who reside in Maryland-our friend Carter comes to mind immediately.

Wonderful that you're spending time with your dad on the project; many of us sadly do not have, or have lost that opportunity over the years so it's nice to see some younger blood getting involved with our beloved hobby.

Thanks for joining our ranks! Reach out anytime with any questions, comments, or just plain chat.

I do remember this project vividly from a different site, but lost track of it some where along the line.

I recall that you were working on this out of the back of a cube truck in a rented mechanics bay also. I also remember the project being put on hold as you were buying a house.
I'm glad to see that you finally made it here to the site. There are allot of great people here that are more than willing to share advice / knowledge for all of the aspects of your restoration.
I know we are looking forward to seeing more of this project as you progress.
